## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON SUNDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2021 AT 1919 MST, N310JA, A CESSNA T310R, DEPARTED CHADRON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KCDR) RUNWAY 30, IN CHADRON, NEBRASKA WITH ONE PILOT AND TWO PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THE WEATHER AS REPORTED BY THE AUTOMATED SURFACE OBSERVATION SYSTEM (ASOS) AT 19:20:31 INDICATED CLEAR SKIES, WIND 240 DEGREES AT 3 KNOTS, TEMPERATURE -02 C, DEW POINT -08C, ALTIMETER 30.25. AFTER TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 30 AT 19:20:00, THE AIRCRAFT WAS OBSERVED BY ADS-B DATA TO CLIMB BRIEFLY TO APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET AGL. THE AIRCRAFT THEN BRIEFLY MAINTAINED ALTITUDE AND BEGAN A GRADUAL RIGHT BANK TO A COURSE OF 340 DEGREES AS INDICATED BY THE ADS-B DATA TRANSMISSION. DURING THE CHANGE OF COURSE TO THE RIGHT THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN A DESCENT AND WAS OBSERVED BY AIRPORT VIDEO IMAGES TO IMPACT THE TERRAIN AT 19:20:32. THE POST-ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION CONFIRMED THAT THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE TERRAIN AT 19:20:32 MST INDICATED BY VIDEO IMAGE AND FINAL ADS-B DATA REPORT, WITH INITIAL IMPACT AT AN ELEVATION OF 3,347 FEET MSL ON A MAGNETIC HEADING OF 350 DEGREES, .70 NAUTICAL MILES FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF RUNWAY 30. THE GROUND IMPACT SCARRING APPEARED TO INDICATE THE AIRCRAFT WAS IN A SHALLOW POSITIVE PITCH, AND SLIGHT RIGHT WING LOW ATTITUDE, WITH DEBRIS FRAGMENTED ALONG AN APPROXIMATELY 600 FOOT DEBRIS PATH. THE PILOT AND 2 PASSENGERS WERE FATALLY INJURED, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED BY IMPACT AND POST IMPACT FIRE. THE TERRAIN IN THE AREA OF IMPACT WAS SPARSELY POPULATED PASTURE WITH SIGNIFICANT UNEVEN SURFACE TOPOGRAPHY CONSISTING OF A COMBINATION OF ROLLING HILLS, AND DRAINAGE AREAS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22FA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22FA042), Nov 22, 2021: Cessna T310R (N310JA), Chadron, NE, destroyed, 3 fatal. Probable cause: The incapacitating effects of a myocardial infarction (heart attack), which resulted in the pilot's loss of airplane control and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
