## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 24, 2021 AT 0935 LOCAL, N4370W DEPARTED SAFFORD AZ (KSAD) WITH AN EXPECTED DESTINATION OF REXBURG-MADISON COUNTY AIRPORT (RXE) INCLUDING A FUEL STOP AT TOOELE VALLEY AIRPORT (KTVY). FLIGHT ALTITUDE WAS MAINTAINED AT ~8500 FEET ELEVATION UNTIL THEIR INITIAL DESCENT INTO TOOELE. DURING DESCENT, A LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED AND AIRSPEED SLOWED FROM ~160 MPH TO ~130 MPH. A RHYTHMIC "THUMPING" WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN EMERGENCY LANDING BE PERFORMED IN THE FIELD JUST WEST OF STATE ROUTE 73 WHERE THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TREE WITH THE LEFT WING AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE LANDING GEAR. LAW ENFORCEMENT ARRIVED ON SCENE AND NOTED THAT THERE DIDN'T APPEAR TO BE ANY LEAKING FLUIDS AND THAT BOTH WINGS STILL HAD FUEL REMAINING. THE NTSB INVESTIGATION IS ONGOING WITH INTENT TO TROUBLESHOOT POTENTIAL MECHANICAL FAILURES. THIS REPORT WILL BE AMENDED AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.
