## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WITNESS STATEMENTS AND FLIGHT TRACK DATA INDICATE:

N3737H MADE A LOW SLOW SPEED FLYBY OF RUNWAY 25 HEG. WITNESSES OBSERVED THE PILOT LOWERING THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT AND ESTABLISHED A LOW CLIMB ATTITUDE. AS HE PASSED MIDFIELD, SMALL POWER ADJUSTMENTS COULD BE HEARD. NO OTHER ENGINE ABNORMALITIES. THE LANDING GEAR WAS OBSERVED COMING UP AND THE BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR POP OPEN. THE CLIMB GRADIENT BECAME SHALLOW WITH A SLOW TURN TO THE RIGHT. DEPARTURE APPEARED NORMAL CLIMBING TO 200-400 FEET, ESTIMATED. AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO EXPERIENCE A SLIGHT BUFFET, A STALL WITH THE RIGHT WING DROP AND ENTER AN ALMOST MOST VERTICAL SPIRAL. AIRCRAFT CONTINUED IN A SPIRAL UNTIL CONTACTING THE GROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COW PASTURE. 2 FATAL

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22FA095](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22FA095), Dec 26, 2021: Mooney M20J (N3707H), Jacksonville, FL, substantial damage, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain airspeed during initial climb, which resulted in an aerodynamic stall/spin. Contributing was the pilot’s likely distraction due to the opening of the baggage door.

## Other reports on N3707H (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19871006076829I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19871006076829I), Oct 6, 1987: Mooney M20J (N3707H), Frederick, MD, Minor damage. Gear retracted on rollout. Found system operated normally after resetting gear motor circuit breaker.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
