## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 7, 2022 A PIPER COMANCHE, N7562P, EXPERIENCED A LEFT HAND MAIN GEAR FAILURE AND PERFORMED A BELLY LANDING AT GJT, GRAND JUNCTION REGIONAL AIRPORT. AIRCRAFT WAS ON A TEST FLIGHT DUE TO LANDING GEAR PROBLEMS THAT HAD BEEN OCCURING SINCE OWNER TOOK POCESSION OF THE AIRCRAFT.

EXAMINATION FOUND THAT A CABLE ON THE LEFT HAND MAIN THAT LOCKS THE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED HAD COME APART AND WOULD NOT LET THE GEAR MOVE INTO THE DOWN AND LOCKED POSITION. PILOT AND OWNER GOT THE OTHER GEAR TO UNLOCK AND PERFORMED A BELLY LANDING DOING MININUM DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT, NO INJURIES OCCURED. AIRCRAFT PICKED UP BY CRANE AND RETUENED TO OWNERS HANGAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
