ON LANDING ROLLOUT AT APPROXIMATELY 15MPH, THE PILOT REPORTED HE TAPPED THE BRAKES TOO HARD CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO NOSE OVER UPSIDE DOWN. ONE POB WITH NO INJURIES AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE SUSTAINED. THE RIGHT FWD WING STRUT WAS BENT AT ABOUT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND THE TOP OF THE VERTICAL STAB WAS PARTIALLY BENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA077](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA077), Jan 10, 2022: Piper PA-16 (N6863K), Creswell, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s excessive left brake pedal application during landing roll, which resulted a loss of directional control, runway excursion, and nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
