## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JANUARY 18, 2022 AT APROXIMATELY 1353 EASTERN TIME, A CESSNA 310 REPORTED A NOSE LANDING GEAR PROBLEM TO THE COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TOWER (BAK). THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED GREENWOOD AIRPORT (KHFY) FOR AN AIRCRAFT FAMILIARIZATION FLIGHT. DURING TAKE-OFF, THE PILOTS HEARD A LOUD BANG AND CONTINUED TO CLIMB TO ALTITUDE. AT ALTITUDE, SUSPECTING ISSUES WITH THE LANDING GEAR, THEY PROCEEDED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM USING THE AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION, THE PILOTS CONTACTED THE COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT TOWER (KBAK), NOTIFIED THEM OF A PROBABLE LANDING GEAR MALFUNCTION AND REQUESTED A LOW FLIGHT PASS. THE TOWER CONFIRMED THAT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR DID NOT APPEAR TO BE DOWN AND LOCKED. THE PILOTS DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND WERE CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 14. DURING LANDING ROLLOUT, THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED, DAMAGING THE NOSE LANDING GEAR, BOTH ENGINES AND PROPELLERS. NO INJURIES OCCURRED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
