## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 01/25/2022, AT 1424 MST, N496KG AN SR-22 AIRCRAFT DURING A FLIGHT INSTRUCTION FLIGHT FOR A PRE-SOLO STUDENT WHEN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED DURING LANDING ON RUNWAY 25R AT DVT. THE INSTRUCTION INVOLVED TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AND THE LANDING JUST PREVIOUS TO ON IN WHICH THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED WAS DESCRIBE BY THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR FLAT, HARD, BUT NOT EXCESSIVELY HARD. CFI SAID THERE WAS A 5-10 KNOT CROSSWIND.

CIRRUS SR20 AIRCRAFT HAVE A KNOWN NOSE GEAR COLLAPSE CONCERN FOR WHICH CIRRUS HAS INCORPORATED A DYE PENETRANT INSPECTION OF NOSE LANDING GEAR SIDE BRACE GUSSETS WELDS INTO SECTION 32-20 OF THEIR AMM AND REQUIRE IT TO BE PERFORMED ON ANNUAL AND 100 HOUR INSPECTIONS. THIS WAS PERFORMED ON THE RECENT 100 HOUR INSPECTION OF THIS AIRCRAFT 20 HOURS PRIOR TO GEAR COLLAPSE. SDR WAS FILED FOR THIS EVENT.

NSPECTED FRACTURED NOSE WHEEL STRUT AND COMPARED FRACTURE SURFACES TO PHOTOGRAPHS FORM NTSB METALLURGICAL REPORT FOR ACCIDENT WPR15IA252. IT HAD THE SAME SIGNATURES OF INCIPIENT CRACK AT WELD. OPERATOR ARRANGED TO SEND STRUT TO MFG. FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
