## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INVESTIGATION: PILOT WAS OUT CHECKING TRAP LINES. HE HAD RECENT PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH THE LANDING LOCATION. THE INTENT OF HIS APPROACH AND LANDING WAS TO ?DRAG? THE SKIS TO MARK A LANDING PATH AND TEST THE CONDITIONS OF THE SNOW. THE TOUCHDOWN WAS PROTECTED FROM A RIDGE BUT ON ROLLOUT IT EXPOSED THE AIRPLANE TO A CROSSWIND. THE CROSSWIND FORCED THE AIRCRAFT TOWARD A TREE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND BUT THE WINGTIP CLIPPED THE TREE AND CARTWHEELED THE AIRCRAFT.

ROOT CAUSE: THE ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO ATTEMPTING TO LAND A SKI PLANE WITH A CROSSWIND.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
