## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INSPECTOR^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^INTERVIEWED THE PILOT BY PHONE ON 03/24/2022 AT APPROXIMATELY 1145. THE PILOT MENTIONED THAT HE DEPARTED THE DAVIS AIRPORT(EDU) ENROUTE TO THE SANTA ROSA AIRPORT (STS). 25 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN A FIELD APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES NORTH OF THE NAPA AIRPORT(APC). THE PILOT SAID THAT THERE WAS 16 GALLONS OF FUEL IN THE AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO DEPARTURE AND THERE WAS FUEL IN THE TANKS WHEN IT WAS REMOVED FROM THE FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR AND THERE IS WRINKLING TO THE SKIN ABOVE THE MAIN LANDING GEAR ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT FUSELAGE. NTSB IS REQUIRING AN ENGINE AND PARTIAL AIRFRAME EXAM. THAT DATE HAS NOT YET BEEN DETERMINED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA099](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA099), Feb 8, 2022: Aeronca 11AC (N9500E), Napa, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for undetermined reasons, which resulted in an off-airport landing on unimproved terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
