## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE HAA CREW WAS PICKING UP A PATIENT FROM A HOSPITAL. THE FLIGHT MEDIC CARRIED HER PERSONAL VAP DEVICE LITHIUM BATTERIES IN HER POCKET. AFTER BUCKLING IN, THE BATTERIES EXPLODED RESULTING IN A FLASH FIRE IN HER UPPER LEFT POCKET, AND MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT SEATBELT. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE AIRCRAFT DOWN, AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS EVACUATED. THE NURSE PROVIDED IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE FLIGHT MEDIC. THE MEDIC SUSTAINED 28% 2ND AND 3RD DEGREE BURNS ON HER BODY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
