## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING PRACTICE AT KCOE, THE PILOT WAS PERFORMING A WHEEL LANDING (CONVENTIONAL GEAR-TYPE AIRCRAFT), BALLOONED, AND ATTEMPTED TO FORCE THE AIRCRAFT TO THE GROUND WITH A PITCH DOWN CONTROL INPUT. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT'S MOMENTUM FLIPPED THE AIRPLANE OVER COMING TO REST UPSIDE DOWN AND POINTING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE APPROACH PATH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA104](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA104), Feb 18, 2022: Christopher P Gage Shortfield Explorer (N141E), Coeur d'Alene, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s improper landing flare which, resulted in a bounced landing, loss of airplane control and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
