## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

EVIDENCE OF THE WRECKAGE FROM N800SW AND A STATEMENT FROM THE PILOT INDICATE THAT THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 05 AT THE PLACERVILLE AIRPORT (PVF). THE PILOT STATED THAT HE DECIDED TO LAND WITH A SLIGHT TAILWIND DUE TO THE LOW SUN ANGLE SHINING DOWN RUNWAY 23 AT THE TIME. THE PILOT ALSO STATED THAT HE LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. HE HIT THE CULVERT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY WHICH DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT'S LANDING GEAR ON BOTH SIDES. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP DOWN THE HILLSIDE IN THE BUSHES. SIGNATURES ON THE AIRCRAFT'S PROPELLER INDICATES THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROPERLY FUNCTIONING. THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT WING, NOSE AND LANDING GEAR RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA110](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA110), Feb 19, 2022: American Legend AL11C-100 (N800SW), Placerville, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Loss of directional control during landing with a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
