## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FEBRUARY 28, 2022, AT APPROXIMATELY 1859 EASTERN STANDARD TIME (EST), ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^,

REPORTED HEARING A LOUD NOISE ON TOUCHDOWN WHEN LANDING RUNWAY ONE-NINE AT DCA. THE FLIGHT CREW HEARD, DURING DECELERATION, THE THUD OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE LIGHTS AS THE NOSE WHEEL WENT OVER THEM. THEY HEARD A LOUD BANG, AROUND THE EIGHTY KNOTS CALLOUT, THEN THE SOUND OF THE CENTERLINE LIGHTS AGAIN. UPON ARRIVAL AT THE GATE, THE GROUND CREW REPORTED TO THE CAPTAIN "YOU HAVE A HOLE IN YOUR PLANE." THE HOLE MEASURED APPROXIMATELY ONE BY THREE FOOT AND WAS LOCATED IN THE FRONT, BOTTOM OF THE FUSELAGE. THE CREW AND PASSENGERS WERE UINJURED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND WAS BEING OPERATED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 121 AS A COMMERCIAL PASSENGER FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED (VMC) AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNDER AN INSTRUMENT FLIGHT (IFR).

AIRPORT OPERATIONS FOUND A CENTERLINE LIGHT CANNISTER TOP MISSING AT APPROXIMATELY 2,500 FEET FROM THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY ONE-NINE, BETWEEN TAXIWAYS MIKE AND NOVEMBER. DCA TOWER CLOSED THE RUNWAY AND ISSUED A NOTAM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
