## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N21EU CHECKED IN 20-MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE AIRPORT STATING THAT HE HEARD A LOUD THUD AND POSSIBLY HIT A BIRD. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT THE RUDDER DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT. AT THE TIME A METRO POLICE HELICOPTER WAS OPERATING IN THE AREA AND OFFERED TO ASSIST WITH HIS CAMERA TO FLY ALONGSIDE N21EU AND SEE IF HE COULD SEE ANY DAMAGE. THE HELICOPTER DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING NOTICEABLE FROM THE AIR AND SAID ?THE RUDDER AND THE WHEELS APPEAR FINE.? N21EU LANDED RY 9L WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED AND AN MOR WAS DONE. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 2022, OFFICER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ FROM THE METRO POLICE AVIATION DIVISION CALLED THE OPF ATM INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT AS HE UNDERSTOOD THAT THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO THE AIRCRAFT. I INFORMED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AT THE ROC ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THERE BEING DAMAGE, AND HE HAD ME CALL OFFICER ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TO CONTACT HIM TO GATHER MORE INFORMATION. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT FSDO WOULD BE COMING TO THE AIRPORT TO INVESTIGATE, AND TO HOLD OFF ON SUBMITTING AN 8020-9. ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9, 2022, I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM THE ROC, AFTER ADMINISTRATIVE HOURS, REQUESTING AN 8020-9.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA151](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA151), Mar 1, 2022: Cirrus SR22 (N21EU), The Hammocks, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain an appropriate altitude above obstacles, which resulted controlled flight into a powerline.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
