## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 5, 2022, ABOUT 1105 EASTERN STANDARD TIME, AN RV-6, N29XL, WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED UPON LANDING ROLLOUT WHEN THE RIGHT MAIN WHEEL CONTACTED THE SNOWBANK ON THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. UPON CONTACT WITH THE SNOWBANK THE AIRCRAFT WAS PULLED FROM THE RUNWAY WHERE IT FLIPPED ONTO ITS CANOPY AND STRIKING THE PROPELLER ON THE GROUND DURING THE FLIP. PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE UNINJURED. PILOT STATED WEATHER BRIEFING REPORTED 15 KNOT CROSSWIND BUT GUSTS WERE IN EXCESS OF THIS UPON TOUCHDOWN AND ROLLOUT FORCING THE AIRCRAFT OFF THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE SNOWBANK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA158](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA158), Mar 5, 2022: Axell Charles L RV-6 (N29XL), Laurens, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
