## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER TAKEOFF AND RETRACTING THE LANDING GEAR THE PILOT REDUCED POWER AND HEARD A LOUD BANG. THE PILOT NOTED HE HAS AN ENGINE ANALYZER AND NOTED CYLINDER #5 HAD 0 READINGS. THE PILOT INFORMED THE TOWER OF THE NEED FOR RETURN AND NOTED THAT THERE WAS STILL POWER BEING GENERATED; HOWEVER, HE REQUESTED TO LAND RUNWAY 5 TO RETURN EXPEDITIOUSLY. THE PILOT STATED HE MAINTAINED A HIGHER THAN NORMAL PATTERN AND FINAL APPROACH TO GUARD AGAINST FURTHER ENGINE TROUBLE. ON LANDING HEAVY BRAKING WAS REQUIRED RESULTING IN THE FLAT TIRE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
