## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

EXPERIMENTAL HOMEBUILT FLIGHT NUMBER 5, PILOT/BUILDER/MECHANIC STATED THE DURING INITIAL TAKEOFF, THE OVERVOLTAGE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN THE LANDING GEAR STARTED TO RETRACT AND AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE QUIT, ALONG WITH SEVERAL CIRCUIT BREAKERS TRIPPING. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED AN OFF AIRPORT LANDING WITH NO PILOT INJURIES REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR AND ENGINE FIREWALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA155](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA155), Mar 13, 2022: Aircraft Designs Stallion (N262KT), Ridgeland, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of sufficient electrical power to the engine’s electronic fuel injection/ignition system for undetermined reasons, which resulted in a total loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
