## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT TOOK OFF FROM SHIRLEY WILLIAMS AIRPORT (44TE) AT 10:10 CST FLYING PART 91 (VMC) IN AN AMPHIBIOUS HULL AIRCRAFT. APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES LATER, HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON THE COLORADO RIVER LAKE NEAR GRANITE SHOLES TEXAS. HE FORGOT TO RETRACT THE GEAR BACK INTO THE HULL BEFORE LANDING ON THE WATER WHICH RESULTED IN A HARD LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT FLIP OVER AND REMAINED AFLOAT. THE WINDSHIELD CANOPY BROKE AND ONE FLAP ROD DETACHED. A BOATER NEARBY WAS ABLE TO RESCUE THE PILOT AND TOW THE AIRCRAFT TO THE SHORE LINE SAFELY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES DURING THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
