## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT N303JE, IN LEVEL FLIGHT KNVY TO KOPF, EXPERIENCED THE ACTIVATION OF A SMOKE ALARM LOCATED IN THE AFT BAGGAGE HOLD. THE AIRCRAFT CREW DIVERTED TO KIAH AND EXPEDITED THEIR DESCENT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED UNEVENTFULLY ON RUNWAY 9 AND EXITED THE RUNWAY. IMMEDIATELY UPON EXITING THE RUNWAY, A MEMBER OF THE FLIGHT CREW EXITED THE AIRCRAFT TO OPEN AND EXAMINE THE AFT BAGGAGE COMPARTMENT. THERE WAS EVIDENCE OF SCORCHING ON THE FABRIC ON THE HEATED PANEL AND THE SMELL OF SMOKE. THE BAGGAGE SYSTEM HAD BEEN DE-ACTIVATED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
