## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DID A PASS OVER OF THE AIRPORT BEFORE COMPLETING LANDING. PILOT VERIFIED WIND AND RUNWAY ENVIRONMENT BEFORE FINAL APPROACH. PILOT COMPLETED TOUCHDOWN AND APPLIED BRAKES, BUT AIRCRAFT WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN. PILOT THEN APPLIED MORE BRAKE AND UPON SEEING THE NUMBER FOR THE END OF THE RUNWAY HE PRESSED BRAKES EVEN HARDER. PASSENGER ALSO HELPED BY APPLYING BRAKES TOO. AIRCRAFT THEN SETTLED IN A DITCH AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. PILOT NOTED SKID MARKS FOR RIGHT TIRE, BUT NOTHING FOR THE LEFT TIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA128](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA128), Mar 19, 2022: Newell Michael J Lancair ES (N4949B), Hurricane, UT, substantial damage. Probable cause: Loss of brake pressure on the left brake due to air in the brake line which, resulted in a runway over run and collision with a ditch.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
