## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 23, 2022, AT APPROXIMATELY 1546 CDT, DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL-OUT, N430HS, GYROCOPTER, REGISTERED TO AN INDIVDUAL. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY ONE ON ABOARD AT THE TIME AND SUSTAINED NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED JUST AS THE GYROCOPTER BECAME AIRBORNE IN THE TAKEOFF ROLL-OUT. THE PILOT, FELT A FORCE STRAIGHT DOWN, RESULTING IN THE GYROCOPTER HITTING HARD AND ROLLING OVER INTO THE GRASS NEXT TO RUNWAY 35 AT F82 (LUBBOCK EXECUTIVE AIRPARK).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA150](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA150), Mar 23, 2022: Sparrow Hawk III (N430HS), Lubbock, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control of the gyrocopter during takeoff with strong gusty winds.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
