## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MARCH 24, 2022, THE PIC OF N111NW TOOK ON ~37.4 GALLONS OF FUEL AT CASPER WYOMING INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CPR). THEY DEPARTED CPR AT ~1030 MST WITH AN INTENDED DESTINATION OF SAINT GEORGE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SGU). ADSB DATA SHOWS AN UNEVENTFUL FLIGHT UNTIL DECENT INTO SGU. AT ~ONE MILE OUT, ~3800 FEET ABOVE TERRAIN, N111NW LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. THE PIC CALLED AN EMERGENCY TO THE TOWER AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE PIC LOWERED FLAPS AND IMPACTED DESERT TERRAIN AT 1350 MST CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND SEVERE INJURIES TO BOTH OCCUPANTS. FUEL WAS PRESENT AT THE CRASH SITE AND THE FUEL PUMPS WERE PROVED OPERATIONAL BY THE NTSB. ENGINE DOWNLOAD DATA CORRESPONDS WITH A LOSS OF POWER AT THE STATED ALTITUDE; HOWEVER, A FORMAL REPORT OF THE DOWNLOADED DATA BY LYCOMING IS STILL PENDING. MAINTENANCE RECORDS SHOW THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENGINE WITH A NEW FACTORY LYCOMING ON MAY 1, 2020 AND THE TACHOMETER STATED A TOTAL TIME OF 204 HOURS. NO OTHER MAINTENANCE ENTRIES APPEARED TO BE OF CONCERN. THE NTSB AND LYCOMING ARE CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE AND THIS REPORT WILL BE AMENDED ONCE FURTHER INFORMATION PRESENTS ITSELF.
