## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE POST-CRASH AIRCRAFT WRECKAGE INSPECTION, LH CONTROL YOKE DIRECT CABLE TO THE RIGHT AILERON WAS FOUND SEPARATED 18 INCHES FROM THE TURNBUCKLE. THE BREAK OCCURRED NEAR THE PULLEY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTROL COLUMN. THIS SEPARATION OF THE CABLE RENDERED THE AILERON SYSTEM INEFFECTIVE. THE CREW LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PREVAILING WESTERLY WINDS "PUSHED" THE AIRCRAFT INTO A WOODED AREA WHERE THE AIRCRAFT STALL THEN IMPACTED TREES AND WAS FLIPPED UPSIDE-DOWN. A POST-IMPACT FIRE CONSUMED 90 PERCENT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE STUDENT PILOT SUFFERED INJURIES AND WAS RELEASED FROM THE ATHENS MEDICAL CENTER. THE CFI WAS LIFE-FLIGHTED TO GRADY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WITH SIGNIFICANT BURN INJURIES. NONE OF THE INJURIES WERE FATAL.
