## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 3/26/2022, THE NEWLY RATED PILOT WAS GIVING HIS FRIEND A RIDE IN THE AIRPLANE. ON DEPARTURE WINDS WERE ABOUT 8 KNOTS DOWN THE RUNWAY. AFTER FLYING AROUND FOR ABOUT 1.5 HOURS, THEY RETURNED TO THE AIRPORT FOR LANDING AND RECEIVED THE WEATHER REPORT THE WINDS WERE 240 AT ABOUT 11 GUSTING TO 18, A 60 DEGREE CROSSWIND NEAR THE AIRCRAFTS MAXIMUM CROSSWIND LIMITATION. THE PASSENGER REPORTED THE PILOT TALKED TO HIM ABOUT THE AIRCRAFT WIND LIMITATIONS AND DECIDED TO SEE IF HE COULD LAND. ON THE PILOT?S FIRST ATTEMPT, HE MADE A LOW APPROACH WITHOUT TOUCHING DOWN. THE SECOND ATTEMPT RESULTED IN ONE WHEEL TOUCHING DOWN BEFORE DECIDING HE NEEDED TO GO AROUND. THE PILOT DECIDED TO ATTEMPT ?ONE LAST TIME? TO LAND, AND IF UNABLE TO GO TO THE PROVO AIRPORT. AT 1301 MTD, ON HIS THIRD ATTEMPT, HE DECIDED TO GO AROUND WHEN HE WAS H BY A GUST OF WIND RAISING THE LEFT WING, CAUSING THE RIGHT MAIN WHEEL AND WING TO TOUCH THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT TURNED AND WENT OFF THE RUNWAY HITTING A DITCH RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE OCCUPANTS RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES.
