## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN WAS PERFORMING AN AERIAL APPLICATION WHEN ON HIS LAST PASS THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE STARTED SPITING AND SPUTTERING. THE AIRMAN EXITED THE FIELD AND CLIMBED TO CLEAR A TREE LINE AND A CROSS-COUNTRY TRANSMISSION POWER LINE. AS THE ENGINE BEGAN TO POP AND BACKFIRE THE AIRMAN SEARCHED FOR A SAFE PLACE TO LAND. THE AIRMAN WAS TRAVELING SOUTHBOUND WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AND THEN STARTED BACK ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES AS HE WAS MANEUVERING TOWARD A LANDING SPOT. ON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCE TWICE ABOUT 60-70 YARDS FROM A TURN ROW. THE TURN ROW (ELEVATED) CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO GO AIRBORNE, JUMPING OVER A DITCH AND INTO ANOTHER FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WHEN IT STRUCK AN IRRIGATION POWER UNIT CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO CARTWHEEL (FLIP UPSIDE DOWN) AND SLIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY 35-45 YARDS BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
