## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 03/30/2022, PIC OF AIRCRAFT N4738B A CESSNA 180 ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF FROM LAMPASAS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT UTILIZING TAXIWAY 90° TO RUNWAY DUE TO HEAVY CROSSWINDS. AIRCRAFT LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO TREES ALONG SIDE OF RUNWAY. PILOT EXITED AIRCRAFT UNINJURED. NO POST-CRASH FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA160](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA160), Mar 30, 2022: Cessna 180 (N4738B), Lampasas, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to perform a takeoff from a perpendicular taxiway rather than the airport runway, which led to the airplane striking trees at the end of the departure path.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
