DURING AN APPROACH AT DUSK, AIRCRAFT STRUCK A WINDSOCK PRIOR TO LANDING, LANDED TO THE SIDE OF RUNWAY AND THEN CAME BACK ONTO THE RUNWAY. DAMAGE TO LEFT WING, LEFT HORIZONTAL STAB LEADING EDGE, LEFT FLAP, AND PROP. NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA171), Apr 8, 2022: Cirrus Design SR22 (N248G), Peyton, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to not activate the runway lighting and misjudged the runway location, which resulted in a collision with a windsock.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
