## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 9, 2022, AT APPROXIMATELY 2050 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A CESSNA 177RG, N52908, TURNED OFF THE TAXIWAY INTO A DITCH NEAR THE APPROACH END OF RUNWAY 19 AT PECAN PLANTATION AIRPORT (0TX1). THE PILOT WAS REPOSITIONING THE AIRCRAFT FROM TRADEWIND AIRPORT (TDW) IN AMARILLO TEXAS TO PECAN PLANTATION AIRPORT (0TX1). AFTER LANDING, THE PILOT MADE A FULL STOP TAXI BACK TO THE APPROACH END OF 19. THE PILOT MADE A RIGHT TURN OFF THE RUNWAY ONTO A TURNAROUND THEN PROCEEDED TO LEAVE THE PAVED AREA AND TAXI ACROSS A GRASSY AREA TO A HANGAR APPROXIMATELY 400 YARDS AHEAD OF HIS POSITION. THE PILOT DID NOT SEE THE DITCH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TURNAROUND BECAUSE IT WAS DARK AND NOT WELL LIT. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE WALL OF A CONCRETE DRAIN WHILE THE RIGHT MAIN AND NOSE MOUNTS WENT INTO THE DITCH. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNINJURED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
