## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE HOUSTON FLIGHT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE FAA SOUTHWEST REGION OPERATIONS CENTER INDICATING THAT WHILE CONDUCTING PRACTICE TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION NUMBER N66NP, A BE55 LANDING GEAR DID NOT EXTEND. THE REPORT INDICATED THAT THE PILOT GLIDED TO RUNWAY AND LANDED GEAR UP.

A WRITTEN STATEMENT PROVIDED BY THE PILOT INDICATED THAT HE WAS PRACTICING LANDINGS AT WHARTON COUNTY REGIONAL AIRPORT RUNWAY 14. HE SAID THAT ON THE FOURTH LANDING, UPON FLARING THE AIRPLANE AT STALL SPEED AT TOUCHDOWN HE HEARD A NOISE UNDER THE FUSELAGE. HE INDICATED THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS ENGAGED IN DOWN POSITION. HE SAID THAT THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED TO A FULL STOP.

ON APRIL 22, 2022, THE REPORTING INSPECTOR WENT TO THE HANGAR WHERE AIRCRAFT N66NP WAS SECURED BY RKJ ENTERPRISES. WHILE WATCHING, RKJ ENTERPRISES? MECHANIC PLACED THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS AND PERFORMED A RETRACTION CHECK. THE RETRACTION CHECK REVEALED NO ABNORMALITIES. LANDING GEAR POSITION LIGHTS AND LANDING GEAR UNSAFE HORN WORKED AS DESIGNED. THE AIRCRAFT BELLY SKIN IS ABRADED THROUGH WITH DAMAGE TO THE UNDERLYING STRUCTURE. THE LEFT INBOARD FLAP TRACK IS PARTIALLY RIPPED OFF FROM THE WING REAR SPAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA183](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA183), Apr 21, 2022: Beech 95-B55 (T42A) (N66NP), Wharton, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to extend the landing gear.

## Other reports on N66NP (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19890720039719I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19890720039719I), Jul 20, 1989: Beech 95B55 (N66NP), Jefferson, GA, Minor damage. Gear collapsed on landing. Indications are that pilot forgot to cycle gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
