## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

EVIDENCE OF THE WRECKAGE FROM N360WM AS WELL AS A WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM

THE PILOT AND A VIDEO TAKEN FROM HIS INSTRUCTOR INDICATE THAT THE AIRCRAFT ATTEMPTED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 16 AT

THE REDDING AIRPORT (RDD). THE STUDENT PILOT OVERCONTROLLED THE LANDING FLARE CAUSING A HARD TOUCHDOWN. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND THE PILOT TRIED TO CORRECT BY PUSHING THE NOSE FORWARD CAUSING A PILOT INDUCED OSCILLATION. THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY CAUSING STRUCTORAL DAMAGE. INDICATIONS FROM THE PROPELLER, VIDEO, AND PILOT STATEMENTS INDICATE THAT THE ENGINE WAS FUNTIONING PROPERLY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA167](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA167), Apr 25, 2022: Cessna 172R (N9572W), Redding, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper landing flare and remedial action which resulted in a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
