## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APRIL 25, 2022 AT APPROXIMATELY 1015 HOURS (LOCAL), N9583C, A PA-32 WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT WHITTAKER FIELD IN FOUNTAIN INN, SC. THE PIC CIRCLED THE FIELD TWICE AND ON THE THIRD TRAFFIC PATTERN INITIATED THE LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED APPROXIMATELY IN THE LAST 1/3 OF THE GRASS RUNWAY. DURING THE ROLL OUT, THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED ALONG THE REMAINING GRASS RUNWAY SURFACE AND UP A SLIGHT GRASSY BERM. THE AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE AGAIN AND THE LEFT WING CONTACTED A METAL POLE AND FENCE POST TEARING THE LEFT WING AND LANDING GEAR FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT SPUN TO THE LEFT AND CAME TO REST AGAINST A CHAIN LINK FENCE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA202](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA202), Apr 25, 2022: Piper PA32 (N9583C), Fountain Inn, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to obtain the proper touchdown point during landing, which resulted in a runway overrun and collision with a fence.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
