## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ON AN FLIGHT PLAN FROM SPENCE AIRPORT (KMUL) MOULTRIE, GEORGIA TO TAMPA EXECUTIVE AIRPORT (KVDF) TAMPA, FLORIDA. PILOT CHANGED TO THE CTAF FREQUENCY AND OBTAINED THE AWOS INFORMATION. THERE WERE NUMEROUS PLANES IN THE PATTERN WITH PILOTS LANDING AND TAKING OFF ON BOTH RUNWAYS 5 AND 18. THE DOWNWIND PATTERN FOR RUNWAY 18. PILOT EXPLAINED HE APPLIED CORSSWIND CORRECTION. TOUCHDOWN FELT RELATIVELY SMOOTH BUT IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER THE LEFT WING DIPPED, AND THE GROUND LOOP BEGAN. PILOT TRIED TO INITIATE A GO AROUND, PILOT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT CLEARED THE GRASS AREA BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE TAXIWAY HOWEVER THE AIRCRAFT SLID INTO THE DITCH ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TAXIWAY FOR RUNWAY 18.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA205](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA205), Apr 25, 2022: Maule MX7 (N4278B), Tampa, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
