## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PRIVATE PILOT AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OF THE AIRCRAFT STATED HE HAD NOT FLOWN IN A LONG TIME AND THAT HE WAS "RUSTY". HE WANTED TO GET CURRENT AGAIN SO HE HIRED THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TO FLY WITH HIM TO BECOME PROFICIENT AND PASS A FLIGHT REVIEW. THE INSTRUCTOR AND PRIVATE PILOT WERE RETURNING TO THE BERRY HILL AIRPORT AND COMPLETED ONE UNEVENTFUL LANDING AND THEY WERE ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 29 FOR THEIR SECOND AND FINAL LANDING. DURING THE APPROACH, AT APPROXIMATELY 150' ABOVE THE GROUND AND HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY ACCORDING TO THE PRIVATE PILOT, THE APPROACH BECAME UNSTABLE AND THE INSTRUCTOR TOOK THE CONTROLS AND ATTEMEPTED TO EXECUTE A GO-AROUND. DURING THE GO AROUND, THE INSTRUCTOR ADDED FULL POWER AND RAISED THE FLAPS FROM 30 DEGREES TO 20 DEGREES. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH AIRSPEED AND ALTITUDE TO CLEAR THE TREES AND POWER LINES AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. IT WAS STATED THAT THE STALL HORN WAS GOING OFF DURING THE GO AROUND. THE INSTRUCTOR ATTEMPTED TO TURN RIGHT TO AVOID THE TREES AND POWER LINES AND LAND ON A ROAD BUT DURING THEIR TURN, THE RIGHT WING HIT A POWER LINE, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TURN RIGHT AND DESCEND AND IMPACT THE ROAD. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO ROLL IN TO A DRAINAGE DITCH WHERE IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND THE FLIGHT ISNTRUCTOR RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. BOTH PILOTS STATED THAT THE ENGINE RESPONDED NORMALLY WHEN FULL POWER WAS ADDED AND THAT THERE WERE NO ISSUES WITH THE FLIGHT CONTROLS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA204](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA204), Apr 25, 2022: Cessna 172A (N7572T), Stockbridge, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor’s delayed remedial action during an unstabilized approach, which resulted in an impact with powerlines and a subsequent loss of control

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
