## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 1700 EDT, DEPARTED OLD BRIDGE AIRPORT (3N6) ENROUTE TO OCEAN COUNTY AIRPORT (MJX) TO CONDUCT FLIGHT INSTRUCTION.

DURING APPROACH TO RNWY 14 AT MJX, AND PERFORMING A THIRD SIMULATED ENGINE OUT LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED TOO HIGH TO LAND ON RNWY 14 AND THE STUDENT OPTED TO TURN LEFT AND LAND ON RNWY 06.

APPROXIMATELY MIDWAY DOWN RNWY 06, THE CFI INSTRUCTED THE STUDENT TO PERFORM A GO AROUND, AND WHEN THE STUDENT ADDED FULL POWER, THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND. THE CFI TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT NEAR THE END OF THE RNWY AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND. VIDEO SURVEILLANCE SHOWS THE AIRCRAFT TURNED LEFT, THEN RIGHT AND APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY THROUGH THE TURN THE LEFT WING STRUCK THE AIRPORT PERIMETER FENCE AND THE RIGHT WING IMPACTED THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AGAINST THE FENCE WITH THE TAIL SECTION BROKEN OFF AND THE AIRCRAFT IN A VERTICAL POSITION WITH THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTING THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
