## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT APPEARED WHAT LOOKS LIKE A NORMAL TAKEOFF AND THEN ABOUT 3/4 WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY, THERE IS AN ENGINE LOSE OF POWER ACCORDING TO A HOME VIDEO AND THEN CRASHES INTO THE TREES OF A GATED HOME COMMUNITY.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED AND THE PILOT WAS AIRLIFTED TO A HOSPITAL BUT IS EXPECTED TO SURVIVE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA216](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA216), May 2, 2022: Grumman AA1 (N15LM), Seneca, SC, substantial damage. Probable cause: A dislodged air filter element, which restricted airflow to the carburetor resulting in a loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
