## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRMAN WAS PRACTICING TRAFFIC PATTERNS AT RYAN AIRFIELD ON RUNWAY 6L. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT THE AIRMAN LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND INTO AN UNPAVED AREA BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT THEN TAXIED BACK UNDER IT'S OWN POWER TO THE HANGAR.

THIS RUNWAY EXCURSION DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT AND AIRPORT PROPERTY. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE WING STRUT AND WING. THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY IMPACTING A TAXIWAY DIRECTIONAL SIGN WHICH COMPLETELY BROKE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA176](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA176), May 10, 2022: Piper PA-18 (N1272A), Tucson, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing.

Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
