## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

- [NTSB ERA22FA226](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22FA226), May 14, 2022: Cessna 172H (N8845Z), Miami, FL, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to carburetor ice as a result of the pilot’s failure to effectively use carburetor heat in conditions conducive to the formation of carburetor ice.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
