## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

RECEIVED REPORT OF UAV ACCIDENT IN WINTERS CALIFORNIA. INVESTIGATION REVEALED UAV HAD 38 FOOT WINGSPAN AND WEIGHED OVER 600 LBS. UAV PILOT REVEALED THAT THE UAV DID NOT HAVE AN AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE, A CERT. OF AUTH. FOR AIRSPACE OR AN EXEMPTION FOR PART 91 RULES. PILOT AND A DIFFERENT WITNESS ON THE GROUND INDICATE THAT THE RIGHT WING SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE INFLIGHT BEFORE IMPACT. THE NTSB IS INVESTIGATING AND WILL DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA183](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA183), May 14, 2022: Pyka Pelican (N605PK), Winters, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Delamination of the uncrewed aircraft systems’ right wing skin surfaces from the wing spar that resulted in a spin and impact with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
