## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THIS INFORMATION WAS RETEIVED FROM THE ALASKA STATE TROOPER REPORT INCIDENT NUMBER: AK22052812:

ON 5/27/22, AT 2229 HOURS, THE ALASKA STATE TROOPERS RECEIVED A REPORT OF A PLANE CRASH AT VICINITY BIG LAKE. UPON ARRIVAL, EMS AND AST FOUND A PLANE THAT HAD BEEN MOVED FROM THE RUNWAY AND PARKED BACKED AGAINST A HILL. THE PLANE WAS MISSING THE FRONT AND LEFT LANDING GEAR AND HAD DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING AND ONE BLADE OF THE PROPELLER.

AN UNKNOWN MALE IDENTIFIED INDIVIDUAL ASSOCIATED WITHIN THIS REPORT WAS OPERATING A FORKLIFT ON THE PROPERTY AND IDENTIFIED HIM AS THE PILOT WHO HAD JUST FLOWN OVER FROM FAIRVIEW LOOP. THE TROOPER GREETED THE PILOT, WHO WAS ATTEMPTING TO STABALIZE THE PLANE TO STOP A FUEL LEAK. THE STATE TROOPER REPORTED THAT THE INDIVIDUAL WAS HOSTILE AND INITIALLY STATED IT WAS NOT A CRASH, IT WAS JUST A HARD LANDING. THE REPORT INDICATED THAT THE STATE TROOPER WAS THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY FOR MAKING THE INITIAL REPORT TO THE NTSB.

AT THIS POINT IN TIME IT CANNOT BE SUBSTATIATED WITHOUT A REASONABE DOUBT THAT THE PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH THIS REPORT CAN BE IDENTIFIED AS THE PILOT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THERE WAS NO VERIFICATION OF IDENTIFICATION OR OF ANY PILOT CERTIFICATES BY THE STATE TROPPERS ON SCENE. AT THIS TIME THE CASE IS SUSPENDED UNTIL NEW INFORMATION CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE TO FURTHER ASSIST WITH THE INVESTIGATION. AT WHICH POINT WE WILL REOPEN THE CASE TO PURSUE FURTHER ACTION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC22LA076](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC22LA076), May 28, 2022: Cessna 182A (N5896B), Big Lake, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: A hard landing for an unknown reason, resulting in substantial damage to the airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
