## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AT APPROXIMATELY 150 FEET AGL DURING THE FIRST TOUCH AND GO AT FORT WORTH MEACHAM (FTW), THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART UNSUCESSFULLY AND WAS FORCED TO LAND ON A NEARBY ROAD. DURING LANDING, THE LEFT WING STRUCK A TREE CAUSING THE WING TO DETACH FROM THE AIRCRAFT. UPON POST CRASH INSPECTION, THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS POSITIONED TO THE LEFT TANK HOWEVER THE RIGHT TANK ON THE AIRCRAFT CONTAINED NO VISIBLE FUEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA237](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA237), Jun 7, 2022: Piper PA28 (N8283V), Fort Worth, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot’s inadequate fuel management that resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
