## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 14, 2022 AT 20:25 SUBJECT AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING ESSEX COUNTY AIRPORT (KCDW) RWY28. PILOT REPORTED THAT HE STRUCK A DEER ON TAKEOFF. SUBJECT AIRMAN STATES, "ON REACHING VR, I ROTATED NORMALLY AND WHAT MUST HAVE BEEN JUST A FEW SECONDS AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE, I SAW A DEER ENTER THE RUNWAY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND HEARD A SLIGHT THUMP FROM UNDER THE AIRCRAFT. ONCE AIRBORNE AND HAVING ACHIEVED A POSITIVE RATE OF CLIMB, I TOLD ATC THAT I BELIEVE I HAD HIT A DEER AND WOULD LIKE TO COME AROUND TO LAND. ATC HANDED ME BACK TO TOWER FREQUENCY AND I STAYED WITH TOWER FOR THE NEXT 20 MINS OR SO, CIRCLING NW OF THE FIELD WHILE GROUND OPERATIONS MADE SURE THE RUNWAY WAS CLEAR. UPON RECEIVING CLEARANCE TO DO SO, I MADE A LOW APPROACH TO CONFIRM MY GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED AND THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE A NORMAL VISUAL APPROACH AND LANDING."

NO SELECTION OF FAA NINE RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE SELECTED IN BLOCK 42, DUE TO WILDLIFE STRIKE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
