## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATED THAT HE PERFORMED HIS WALK AROUND/PREFIGHT AT SANTA PAULA (SZP) PRIOR TO DEPARTURE. AND TOOK OFF FOR HIS HOME BASE IN CAMARILLO (CMA). UPON LANDING AT CMA AND RETURNING TO HIS HANGAR^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^HE NOTICED DAMAGE TO THE BACKSIDE OF HIS PROPELLER AND A HOLE IN THE UPPER PILOTS SIDE OF THE FRONT ENGINE COWLING NEAR THE AIR INLET. HE DOES NOT REMEMBER STRIKING ANYTHING OR RECALLING ANY STRANGE SOUND OR AN IMPACT DURING THE DURATION OF THE FLIGHT. THE COWLING HOLE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE LARGE ENOUGH TO ALLOW WHAT EVER HIT TO COMPLETE THE ENTRY INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THERE DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ENTERED THE ENGINE AREA. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT ACTUALLY STRUCK THE PROPELLER AND HIT THE ENGINE COWELING.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
