## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

GUSTY WINDS ON APPROACH; RIGHT OF CENTERLINE; HARD LANDING AND WHEELBARROWING/PORPOSING ON TOUCHDOWN

ACCOMPANYING PASSENGER WAS ALSO A PILOT AND CFI; PASSENGER SAID "A LITTLE RIGHT OF COURSE", AND INFORMED PIC TO "GO AROUND";  PIC DOES NOT REMEMBER WHO APPLIED POWER;

AIRPLANE WOULD NOT CLIMB; PIC OBSERVED 1,700 RPM; THROTTLE FULLY FORWARD; NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS; PIC QUESTIONED SELF "WHY ISN'T THE AIRPLANE CLIMBING?" APPROACH WAS RIGHT OF CENTERLINE; PILOT BELIEVED IT WAS STRONG OR GUSTY WINDS; ON GO-AROUND, AIRCRAFT DID NOT CLIMB AFTER APPLYING FULL POWER

ENGINE MOUNTS WERE CRUMPLED; LANDING GEAR FOLDED AND TORN OFF

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA286](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA286), Jun 19, 2022: Piper PA-38-112 (N2512N), Gaithersburg, MD, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain control during the landing flare in gusting wind conditions.

## Other reports on N2512N (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900614034949I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900614034949I), Jun 14, 1990: Piper PA38112 (N2512N), Winston Salem, NC, Minor damage. Nose gear collapsed on landing rollout.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
