## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 19, 2022 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400HRS CDT, THE PILOT OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^DEPARTED A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP 13 MILES SSE OF KMCB. ON ROLL TAKE OFF ROLL OUT, THE PILOT HEARD A LOUD BANG BUT WAS ABLE TO GET AIRBORNE WITH NO ISSUES. THE PILOT CIRCLED OVER THE GRASS STRIP TO CHECK FOR ANY ANOMALIES. THE PILOT'S ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WHO WAS MONITORING THE PILOTS DEPARTURE, WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THE NOSE LANDING GEAR HAD BEEN SEVERED FROM THE AIRCRAFT BY THE TOW BAR WHICH WAS UNINTENTIONALLY LEFT ATTACHED TO THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT DETERMINED THAT THE FLIGHT CHARACTERISTICS OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE NORMAL BUT TRYING TO LAND ON THE GRASS STRIP WOULD HAVE BEEN RISKY. THE PILOT ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO HIS DESTINATION, NEW ORLEANS LAKEFRONT AIRPORT(KNEW) DUE TO THE LONGER, HARD SURFACED RUNWAY AND AVAILABILITY OF EMERGENCY SERVICES. THE PILOT CONTACTED NEW ORLEANS APPROACH SERVICES AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND RECEIVED CLEARANCE TO A DIRECT APPROACH TO KNEW. AFTER THE PILOT CONTACTED THE TOWER AT KNEW, THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO LAND AND SKIDDED ABOUT 50 FEET TO A STOP.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
