## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC AND PASSENGER DEPARTED PAQ AIRPORT FOR A SIGHTSEEING FLIGHT. THEY LANDED ON A GRAVEL BAR UP THE KNIK RIVER DRAINAGE. UPON DEPARTURE FROM THE GRAVEL BAR THEY CLIMBED 200 TO 300 FEET AND STARTED TO LOSE ENGINE POWER. THE PIC LOOKED FOR A PLACE TO LAND. THEY MADE A HARD FORCED LANDING ON A GRAVEL BAR. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED A COUPLE TIMES DUE TO THE ALASKAN BUSH WHEELS. THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS NOSE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC22LA049](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC22LA049), Jun 20, 2022: Piper PA-20 (N7048K), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power due to carburetor icing and the pilot’s failure to utilize carburetor heat.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
