## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

TO START OFF, THIS IS MY FIRST SOLO FLIGHT. I GET EVERYTHING READY, PREFLIGHT MY PLANE AND TAXI MY WAY DOWN TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I CALL DEPARTURE AND MAKE MY WAY AROUND THE TRAFFIC PATTERN. I?M ON MY WAY DOWN ON FINAL AND NOTICE I DO NOT LIKE HOW MY APPROACH IS LOOKING SO I GO AROUND AND CALL IT. I GO AROUND THE PATTERN ONCE AGAIN AND DO A SUCCESSFUL LANDING. THERE WAS A SMALL BOUNCE BUT I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER WELL AND TAXI MY WAY OUT TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE ONCE AGAIN. MY INSTRUCTOR LETS ME KNOW MY MISTAKE, WHICH WAS I FLARED TOO EARLY. I TAKE NOTE OF THIS AND DEPART AGAIN. I GO AROUND THE PATTERN AGAIN AND COME DOWN ON FINAL, I LIKE HOW MY APPROACH LOOKS AND PROCEED TO LAND. I BOUNCE ONCE AND ON THE TOUCHDOWN I FEEL THE PLANE ROLLING ON THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR AND NOTICE THAT I START TO TURN LEFT. AT THIS POINT I?VE LOST CONTROL AND MAKE SURE THE POWER IS FULL OUT AND I?M ROLLING ON THE GRASS AND FALL INTO THE DITCH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN22LA306](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN22LA306), Jun 26, 2022: Cessna 172 (N97789), Cleveland, MS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control during landing, which resulted in a runway excursion and substantial damage.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
