## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 28, 2022, ABOUT 740 PACIFIC DAYLIGHT TIME, A BEECHCRAFT V35B, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WAS DESTROYED WHEN IT WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AT PEARSON AIRFIELD (KVUO) IN VANCOUVER, WA. THE PRIVATE PILOT SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES. ACCORDING TO AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC) DATA AND AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT SURVEILLANCE-BROADCAST (ADS-B) DATA, THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED VUO AT 7:23 VIA THE EAST BANK TRANSITION. AT 7:26 THE PILOT EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT THE CLOUDS AND DECIDED TO TURN BACK AND FLY TO VANCOUVER LAKE TO LOSE ALTITUDE. THE FLIGHT TRACK FROM FLIGHT AWARE AND ADS-B DATA SHOW THE AIRCRAFT FLEW AROUND THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LAKE. THE PILOT INFORMED THE CONTROLLER THAT HE WAS GOING TO RETURN TO VUO. AT 7:35 HE REPORTED ENTERING DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 26. THE AIRPLANE TURNED BASE. SURVEILLANCE VIDEO SHOWS THE AIRPLANE APPROACHING FINAL WITH THE RIGHT WING SLIGHTLY LOW. THE RIGHT WING DROPPED AND BANK ANGLE INCREASED TO NEAR 90 DEGREES. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND FIRST FOLLOW BY THE NOSE. IT CAUGHT FIRE ON IMPACT, INVERTED, AND SLID ACROSS THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD COMING TO REST ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY APPROXIMATELY 120 YARDS FROM THE RUNWAY 26 THRESHOLD. THE DEBRIS FIELD FROM POINT OF IMPACT AND FINAL RESTING SPOT SHOWED A TRAJECTORY OF APPROXIMATELY A 30 DEGREE ANGLE TO THE RUNWAY. INITIAL INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO OBVIOUS MAINTENANCE CAUSES FOR THE CRASH.
