## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DEPARTING RUNWAY 9, UPON REACHING AN ALTITUDE OF APPROXIMATELY FIVE FEET SHORTLY AFTER ROTATION, THE PILOT FELT THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED DEVELOPING FULL TAKEOFF POWER. THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF, COMING BACK INTO CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY SURFACE. THE PILOT COULD NOT GET THE AIRCRAFT STOPPED WITH THE REMAINING RUNWAY DISTANCE AND THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A RETENTION POND AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA22LA366](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA22LA366), Jun 29, 2022: Piper PA-32RT (N4321M), Wilmington, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power during initial climb for reasons that could not be determined.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
