## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 1, 2022 AT APPROXIMATELY 1945 CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME, A PIPER PA-28-140 AIRPLANE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTING RUNWAY 14 DURING TAKEOFF ROTATION AT THE HASTINGS, NEBRASKA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KHSI).

THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING TAKEOFF ROTATION AS SLIGHT BACK PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE CONTROL YOKE, THE NOSE GEAR STARTED TO WOBBLE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A HARD PULL TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT THEN PULLED THE THROTTLE BACK AND ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT.

THE ON SCENE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE AIRCRAFT EXITED RUNWAY 14 AT APPROXIMATELY 1137 FEET FROM THE STARTING POINT OF TAKEOFF. AS THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND INTO THE GRASS THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET FROM EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.

THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE NOSE LANDING GEAR, PROPELLER, AND ENGINE COWLING. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INJURY OR ASSISTANCE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
