## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT TOOK OFF FROM ARLINGTON WA (AWO) TO COLFAX WA (S94). UPON DESCENT, PILOT DESCRIBED THE ENGINE GOING TO IDLE BEFORE IT SHUTDOWN. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE TANKS AND TURNED TO ATTEMPT A LANDING AT LACROSSE MUNI. PILOT DETERMINED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE THE ALTITUDE OR AIRSPEED TO MAKE IT TO LACROSSE. HE ALSO NOTED THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC ON HWY 26 SO HE CHOSE TO LAND IN AN OPEN FIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR22LA247](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR22LA247), Jul 1, 2022: Beech H35 (N5546D), LaCrosse, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to monitor and manage the fuel supply, which resulted in a loss of engine power due to fuel starvation.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
